Janet Whitehead Portrait Challenge

This is my painting of Janet Whitehead done as part of the Different Strokes challenge. Wow! What a learning experience. Not only in the painting itself but there is nothing like the commitment of sending a photo of your work for someone else to post to make you scrutinize your editing of the shot. Only after sending the photo to Karin did I realize the color in the shot was off from the painting. One of many things I have learned by participating in the DSFDF blog.

Thank you Karin for the many lessons all of us will undoubtedly learn from your labors. The opportunity to compare the efforts of so many individuals is a privilege indeed.

Thanks so much to all of you. This is only about my 4th attempt to paint a strait portrait and though ya’ll make it look easy it is anything but! I feel very lucky to have participated in the challenge. What a wonderful family of artist!

You did an amazing job. Your placement of wee spots of highlight made her beautiful eyes moist. Your rendering of her salt and pepper hair was perfect. Even the little suggestion of gloss on her lower lip was perfection. Great job!!!

Amanda, hard to believe this only your fourth portrait. You and Janet both did great jobs. Those eyes are alive.

Hi Amanda, I really enjoyed your painting of me. Would you like to exchange the paintings as Karin suggested? Let me know and we'll work out the details.

Wonderful portrait, in fact I love all your paintings. I know what you mean about photographing your work, it sometimes takes me hours getting it just right and avoiding glare from the paint. It's amazing how different light conditions can alter the colors so much.
